About Mestra Índia
Mestra Índia began her training in Miami Beach FL in 1995. In the final months of 1999 she moved to Berkeley California to pursue her training under Mestre Acordeon, Mestre Ra and Mestra Suelly. In the summer of 2004 she returned to Miami and began teaching Capoeira under the guidance of her Mestres.
In 2009 she founded Miami Capoeira Sol e Lua Cultural Arts Center. A unique studio located in central Miami devoted solely to Capoeira and related cultural arts such as Samba, Batucada percussion, and dança de salão. In addition to Capoeira Mestra India also gives classes in Maculele, Samba, and Mat Pilates. She also has been a licensed and practicing personal trainer for over 20 years with much of her continuing education in therapeutic and rehabilitative movement, boot camp as well as 300 hours of training in Acupressure massage.

Her experience with movement and her travels to Brazil and throughout the world sharing Capoeira and Cultural arts have deepened and strengthened her experience and expertise in her teachings. December 10th, 2022 India had the great honor of receiving the esteemed graduation to Mestra from her teachers Mestre Acordeon, Mestra Suelly and Mestre Rã in Albuquerque New Mexico. She has expressed herself through the fine arts her entire life and as an adult pursued these expressions in an academic setting. She now holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a minor in Art History. Her dedication to Capoeira, dance, movement, art, and history have led to a lifetime of creativity and teaching to students of all ages. She teaches with the passion and honor that has been passed onto her from a lifetime of dedicated practice and commitment. Her greatest joy is sharing this work with her family and time within nature or the breeze at an ocean’s edge.
